MBM was established in 1988 by Danny and Harry Brown, brothers, military members, and carpenters by trade. When Danny was honorably discharged from the Marines in 1976, Harry was preparing to serve in the Army. As an incentive to return safely, Harry and Danny agreed that upon return they would start a business together. After honorable discharge from the military, Danny and Harry joined the Carpenter’s Union and expanded their knowledge of the trades. They quickly decided construction was the field for them and in March of 1988 they started MBM Contracting, which was named after their children. Their first family employee was their mother Irene Brown who came out of retirement at the age of 63 to help the business grow and retired for a second time at the age of 92.
MBM had humble beginnings starting in the basement of a hair salon in Dormont. After a couple years, Danny and Harry were able to purchase an old masonic temple in Homestead and move the business there. Business continued in Homestead for 14 years before moving to our current location in Baldwin Business Park in 2004. In 2015 MBM began to transition to a second generation company. The “MBM” Matt, Bryan, and Missy along with Nate, Jake and Jessica now lead the business and continue to provide high-quality services.
We are a family owned and operated business whose foundation is built on honesty, integrity, and hard work. The long-term relationships we have developed with our customers attest to our total commitment to assuring their satisfaction.
MBM utilizes many types of technology to assure top quality and the most comprehensive support services available. Below are some of the software tools we use to assist us in project delivery:
We understand the importance of sustainability requirements during both the design and construction phases of a project. We have learned that early involvement by all parties is critical to the success of sustainable design. Since many of the potential LEED certification points can have a cost impact, it is extremely important to have continuously updated cost estimates for each item for consideration through the normal design development process. These items are reviewed and considered just as other value engineering or cost savings opportunities.
We have experience working with owners, architects, and engineers to complete the necessary documentation and submission in order to accomplish LEED goals. We have the experience and know-how to keep proper records and follow United States Green Building Council (USGBC) procedures so a project can achieve its LEED® certification goals. With LEED Accredited Professionals on staff and having built some of the most impressive LEED certified projects in the Pittsburgh region, we pride ourselves in being at the forefront of the green building movement.
Construction sites can be dangerous but creating a safe environment for of our employees, subcontractors and the public is the most important and vital part of our operations.
